About the funding

This fund is open to registered equine charities or charities/hospices supporting older people in the UK. The Trustees are especially interested in projects relating to dementia and combating social isolation in the elderly frail.

Grants are usually made for capital projects or time-limited specific projects.

The funding is allocated for charitable endeavors aligned with the Trust’s goals, which include:

  1. Prevent cruelty to equine animals, to relieve suffering and distress amongst such equine animals, to care for and protect such equine animals including live horses being transported country to country for butchery if such animals are in need of care and protection by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or similar causes
  2. Provide social services for help for the relief of the aged and infirm.

Whilst the Trustees recognise that people aged over 65 traditionally may have been considered old, this arbitrary age cut-off rarely defines true old age in the modern era. Applications are therefore expected to demonstrate clearly defined benefits to older people who are frail.
