About the funding

This fund is open to VCSE organisations who support disadvantaged children and young people under the age of 18.

BBC Children in Need has announced that it will be ‘unable to accept new Expressions of Interest application after 15th April 2025 until mid September 2025’:

“As part of our ongoing commitment to improving our systems and processes, BBC Children in Need are transitioning to a new grantmaking system. This transition will take place throughout 2025 and we will launch our new system by the end of September. During this period there will be some disruption to our grant programmes.”

This fund aligns with the principles set out in the Children in Need Grantmaking Strategy 2022-2025:

  • Sharing power with children and young people
  • Acting flexibly
  • Using its voice to build awareness and empathy around issues
  • Building partnerships to bring communities and investors together

The fund can be up to 3 years (£40,000 per year)

Core Costs grants are provided as restricted funds and must be used to cover the organisation’s essential operating expenses.
