Hull Poverty Truth Commission

Engaging people and communities in service design

Project Introduction
The Poverty Truth Commission in Hull is part of a national network of projects to improve the lives of people living in poverty
Hull's PTC brings together people with lived experience of struggling against poverty and decision-makers from civic and business life. Together this group explores local issues that are impacting on people's lives and work in partnership to tackle them
What we do
Forum co-facilitates the project in Hull, along with facilitators from Citizens Advice, Groundwork and Hull and East Riding Timebank. This involves:
  • Recruiting and supporting community commissioners with lived experience
  • Recruiting and supporting civic commissioners from the public, voluntary and private sectors
  • Facilitating relationship-building based on trust and deep listening
  • Supporting the identification of local themes and priorities
  • Helping those involved to find solutions together
