The A B Charitable Trust (ABCT) is an independent, UK based grant-making organisation founded in 1990 that is concerned with promoting and defending human dignity.
ABCT supports charities working where human dignity is imperilled and where there are opportunities for human dignity to be affirmed.
Applications are particularly welcomed from charities working to support:
- refugees and asylum seekers
- prisoners and penal reform
- human rights
The category of human rights is broad. ABCT is particularly interested in charities that seek to address the needs of the most marginalised and neglected groups in society. For further guidance, please see the ABCT annual report for examples of charities supported under this heading.
Please note that ABCT receives many more requests for help than it can meet from its resources and has to make difficult decisions even when its criteria are met.
