New report outlines potential for volunteering in social care across Humber and North Yorkshire
As part of National Volunteers Week 2025, the Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) Volunteers at the Heart of the System group that form part of the Breakthrough Workforce Transformation programme has published a report on the ‘Potential for Volunteering in Social Care across Humber and North Yorkshire’.
The report written by Gethyn Williams provides a greater understanding of social care volunteering across the region. The report maps the current activity and provides perspectives from stakeholders, providers and partners.
The Volunteers at the Heart of the System group are planning on reviewing this report and working through the recommendations, looking to realise the opportunities we have to maximise the potential of volunteering in social care.
Alison Semmence, Chief Executive of York CVS and Senior Responsible Officer for the HNY Volunteers at the Heart of the System group says:
‘It is fantastic that we are able to release this report in Volunteers Week, the report captures what is already working well across HNY and also where we could go further to develop and grow social care volunteering. Volunteers are hugely valuable to our work and our group aims to make sure we provide the valuable opportunities and a great experience for our volunteers.’
