New fund to open to communities to boost local growth and energy security

Department for Energy Security and Net Zero announced on 11th August about the new £10million fund which will open early August to help deliver government’s ambitions to restore optimism and pride in local communities.

This will be open to rural and local communities across England to support in setting up local energy projects that will provide local jobs and deliver energy security.

The aim of the fund is to kickstart projects including small-scale wind farms and rooftop solar partnerships, as well as battery storage, rural heat networks, electric vehicle charging points, and fuel poverty alleviation schemes – all proposed, designed and owned by local people.
