Neurodiversity Celebration Week

As you will be aware Neurodiversity Celebration Week takes place from March 13th to March 19th, 2023, this year. The week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about
autism and learning disabilities. Hull City Council, along with Hull Culture and Leisure and the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank will be celebrating the Week by inviting young people to take part in a
competition celebrating neurodiversity.

The competition will again be organised by the Hull City Council Youth Enterprise Team, the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank and Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd, you will be aware that 20% of business
owners consider themselves neurodivergent.

The idea of the competition is to encourage us all to recognise the strengths and talents of young people who are neurodiverse and who think and learn differently. This includes students who are autistic,
dyslexic, or have dyspraxia, dyscalculia, or ADHD. The competition is open to young people who are not neurodivergent, though their entries would still have to illustrate what they understand by
neurodiversity.

Young people aged 25 and under to produce an image A4 or A3 size design to illustrate at least one of the conditions that come under the neurodiversity banner, as mentioned earlier.

Individuals and organisations send them to me, and I would encourage you to post them on social media accounts, with the following hashtags #NeuroDiversityWeek and #HullNDW23.

A judging panel will decide the three winners.

Cash prizes have been donated by the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank and a prize of £250 will go to a nominated school or organisation towards celebrating Neurodiversity Celeb

Individual prizes for pupils and young people:

1st Prize £75

2nd Prize £50

3rd Prize £25

The winners will have afternoon tea with the Lord Mayor and have their competition designs displayed in Ferens Art Gallery, so please encourage entries from the young people that you work with.

Please ensure the images are A4 or A3 size so it will be easier to frame the winning entries.
