Free programme of learning sessions to mark Safeguarding Week
A programme of free online sessions is now available to mark Safeguarding Week, which begins on Monday, June 16 2025.
Partners from Safeguarding Adults Boards, Safeguarding Children Partnerships and Community Safety Partnerships across Hull, North Yorkshire, the City of York Council, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council have come together and developed an extensive programme of learning events, seminars and interactive sessions which all underpin this year’s theme – “Safeguarding is everybody’s business”.
Spurred on by the success of Safeguarding Week 2024, partners have worked to extend the range of topics being covered this year. These include –
- Suicide prevention
- Support for people impacted by domestic abuse
- Signs of radicalisation
- On-line safety
- Fraud awareness and protection
- The power of the bystander
While a number of the sessions are only open to professionals working in the safeguarding sector, the week-long programme of 65 sessions also caters for members of the public, volunteers, parents and carers who want to learn more about safeguarding.
Kay Durrant, Chair of the Hull Safeguarding Adults Board and the Hull Safeguarding Children Partnership said:
“As chair of the Safeguarding Adults board in Hull and Independent Scrutineer and chair of the Hull Safeguarding Children Partnership, I welcome this coming together of local boards and partnerships to support our communities. We want to help and support one another and empower others to know the signs of abuse and how to access support when needed. Prevention is key and I hope you can attend some of these amazing sessions online and we welcome feedback. We are committed to listen and keep doing all we can to safeguard children and adults”.
The full programme of events, which will take place between Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20, is open for viewing at https://safeguardingchildren.co.uk/safeguarding-week-2025/
Early registration is recommended to avoid disappointment.
All the agencies involved will be sharing information across their social media channels and website in the run up to Safeguarding week and throughout the week. To follow along look for the hashtag #safeguardingweek2025.
