The CQC has developed this protocol for its staff to describe its role in safeguarding both children and adults. It covers all the relevant health and social care sectors for which CQC has regulatory responsibility and provides the principles for how CQC will work to help make sure people are protected. It may also provide helpful guidance for stakeholders, providers of services and the public on CQC’s role in local safeguarding procedures.
