ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service)

ACAS stands for Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. ACAS is a non-departmental body, governed by an independent Council. They aim to improve organisations and working life through better employment relations.

They help with employment relations by supplying up-to-date information, independent advice and high quality training, and working with employers and employees to solve problems and improve performance.

Acas offers training in all major aspects of employment relations – anything affecting the relationship between employers and employees. Their training covers the basics – such as recruitment, contracts of employment, people management, discipline and grievance and absence management – and more advanced training, such as conflict management, mediation, monitoring and impact assessment and addressing work/life balance.

CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development)
