Hull Together – Social Inclusion programme outline

By September 14, 2020Front Page News, Local News

What we are doing

Forum has been commissioned by Hull City Council to carry out research to develop a social inclusion strategy for Hull. We are using a broad definition of social inclusion for this project – that people have opportunities to get involved, access services and feel part of society, whatever their background or circumstances.

We will be undertaking primary research across September and October 2020, which will include surveys, conversations, interviews and focus groups. We will be talking to migrants and people from diverse cultures that live in Hull, and people that are native to Hull. We will also be talking to people who work in frontline services, for example housing, police and health.  If you think you can help with this element of the work, please get in touch – we have a budget for voluntary sector partners who can assist the project, for example by helping their service users to complete surveys.

We will also be reviewing and analysing existing data to help us identify what is known, and what the gaps are. This might include data from schools, council departments, health bodies and voluntary and community sector organisations.

How you can help

If you have any data you can share with us, please let us know. Data might include:

  • Feedback from any surveys or consultations you have done with people or communities in Hull, about topics like feeling safe, accessing services or how they feel about their neighbourhood
  • Data from any projects you have carried out within the last 2 years that demonstrates what issues, challenges, opportunities or assets are important to people in Hull
  • Data specific to your area of work, e.g. housing or education, that would not normally be available on public databases – for example data about young people’s aspirations or concerns

It does not have to relate specifically to migrant or ethnic minority groups, but if you do have any data from those groups that would be welcomed.

Please do not share any data that is not anonymized.
