Fitmums and Friends is a charity which provides support for men, women and children to be active through the delivery of walk, run, cycle and athletics sessions. The bulk of activities are delivered by an extensive volunteer network, across the Humber, North & South Yorkshire.
The organisation has been operational since 2009 becoming a registered charity with a board of Trustees in 2017. At the end of the most recent membership year the charity was supporting nearly 1000 members; spread across 11 clubs with around 300 volunteers delivering sessions.
In addition, the charity also supports a coaching development structure; mental health champions; guide runners; an intensive support scheme called In the Pink; a team who deliver activities for people affected by sight loss and an inter-generational choir.
The charity has exciting plans to continue its growth in supporting men, women and children to become active. To help them grow they need experienced members of the public to join the existing Board of four trustees. They are particularly keen to recruit individuals with Social Entrepreneurship skills and/or experience but welcome all applications.
Board meetings are held every two months either at Fitmums and Friends HQ on Greenwood Avenue, Hull or virtually via Zoom.
The Board is responsible for setting the strategy and direction of Fitmums and Friends and guides and supports the Chief Officer and her team.
