The Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people in the UK.
Initially set up by the UK Government in 1973 and administered as part of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation until 1996, the Famly Fund is an independent organisation registered as a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is funded by the national governments of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as private donations and income generated through its trading arm, Family Fund Business Services.
The Family Fund provides grants and information related to the care of severely disabled children under the age of 17.
The grants are awarded according to specific criteria relating to the child’s disability, receipt of a range of benefits, and proof of UK residency.
