Freedom Talks: In conversation with Guardian investigative journalist Annie Kelly

March 26, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Held in the Middleton Hall, University of Hull

Admission is free but booking is essential.

A landmark bill to help eradicate modern slavery received Royal Assent on 26 March 2015. The Modern Slavery Act was the first of its kind in Europe, and one of the first in the world, to specifically address slavery and trafficking in the 21st century.

To mark this anniversary Freedom Festival Arts Trust (FFAT) and the University of Hull’s Wilberforce Institute for the study of Slavery and Emancipation (WISE) are joining forces to host a discussion with award-winning human rights journalist and editor of the Guardian’s Modern-day slavery in focus series Annie Kelly.

The evening will also feature live spoken word and an exhibition of photographs from the Modern-day slavery in focus series called ‘Faces of Slavery’. This event is part of the ongoing ‘Freedom Talks’ a partnership between the University of Hull and Freedom Festival Arts Trust.
