Building Stronger Communities – Wharfedale Foundation 10th Anniversary
June 18 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Wharfedale Foundation celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2019.
Established in 2009 the Foundation provides small grants to organisations across Yorkshire and the Humber that build and strengthen communities by breaking down barriers and facilitating the integration of marginalised groups. The projects it has funded over the last 10 years have been instrumental in addressing divisions within our society by cultivating a greater appreciation of the importance of social justice and diversity.
Each year the trustees host an annual event to showcase the projects the foundation has supported. For this special milestone, they will have two guest speakers who are familiar with the issues faced by those supported through the Foundation’s grants programme over the last decade (poverty, marginalisation, lack of social inclusion and the need for a safe refuge) and can highlight the challenges facing the voluntary and community sector in the next ten years.
The guest speakers are:
- David Warner – Social Change and Strategic Philanthropy Consultant, currently supporting the second phase of the Civil Society Futures independent report enquiry
- Reverend Dr. Inderjit Bhogal OBE – theologian and Methodist minister, founder and President of City of Sanctuary movement with, Bradford Friendship Choir
- Light refreshments will be provided.
To cover costs, they are charging £10. You can book your place here
