Electrical Fire Safety First Fund

By February 1, 2018Funding Opportunities

Electrical Safety First awards funding under its Home Improvement Grants Scheme and Electrical Fire Safety Fund.

The schemes enable funded partners to offer direct support to vulnerable groups and raise awareness of electrical safety issues in local communities.

The schemes have, to date, awarded over £1 million in grants, directly benefitting over 110,000 people and reaching over 2.5 million through awareness projects.

Home Improvement Grants Scheme

The scheme is run with the support of the national bodies for Home Improvement and Care & Repair Agencies: Foundations (England), Care & Repair Scotland, Care & Repair Cymru and Gable (Shelter) in Northern Ireland. Their support means that the scheme reaches every eligible agency in the UK, giving them the opportunity to apply for funding.

  • Eligible beneficiaries of the grants are vulnerable home owners who are on means-tested benefit and/or state pension (with no other income) and/or registered disabled.

Electrical Fire Safety Fund

The fund has supported the delivery of project-based fire prevention initiatives in local communities. These aim to effectively tackle the causes of electrical fires by increasing the public’s awareness of electrical safety and promoting appropriate behavior changes that will lead to the safe use of electrical appliances and installations.
