Youth Employment Initiative funded Projects: DO IT project, Create to Change and Single Parents project –

Our projects engage with young adults aged 16- 29 years. A key worker will help them meet their personal, social, educational and employment goals and identify and overcome any barriers that they may fOctagonace in life such as financial, mental health and housing issues through internal and external provisions. We offer a wide variety of activity and support across our projects including workshops, training and placement opportunities both paid or voluntary and our flexible programme is designed to support those out of work or education and engage them into something meaningful. Catering, radio, employability skills, ESOL, music, arts and sport are just some of the activities that members can engage with. If you are interested or know somebody that is; then please do get in touch for an informal chat about what you can get involved with!

Reading Rooms is a reading for conversation programme, run by Hull Libraries, where trained facilitators read and share short stories and poetry exploring memory, emotion and thought in groups or individually.

The stories and poetry can be moving, funny, sad and uplifting and conversations are unique to each session, frequently taking unexpected directions. There is no requirement for participants to read aloud.

A Reading Room is an opportunity to relax, be read to (something many of us haven’t experienced since we were children) and have a good chat.

Reading Room groups will be taking place in various venues from October 2018.

Alternatively, if you are caring for someone, Reading Rooms can come to you at home.

To find out more and to book Reading Room sessions please contact Clare or Jessica on 01482 613602 or email clare.bennett@hcandl.co.uk.
