Employment Law – Key changes in October and what they mean for employers

Another month and another new Prime Minister. There’s been a lot of change since their last bulletin in September with budgets, U-turns, economic damage, resignations and a new Prime Minster. With all the noise surrounding Downing Street some of you may have missed the changes that were confirmed in October that will impact on your business.

In addition to ensuring that all right to work checks are compliant, on 23 September 2022 Liz Truss (the then PM) announced a mini-budget which set out both immediate and planned changes. However, many of the proposals were reversed by the new Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, in response to significant pressure following market turmoil.
