Continuing their weekly survey on the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on people in Great Britain, this Office for National Statistics (ONS) analysis focuses on how people are responding to changes in UK Government guidance on leaving home.
The survey covers the period 21 to 24 May 2020.
- There has been an increase in people leaving their homes this week: 90% compared with 86% last week. Of those with an underlying health condition, only 18% had not left their home this week, compared with 33% last week.
- Reasons for leaving home included 36% of adults in employment travelling to and from work, a similar number to last week. Across all respondents, common reasons for leaving home continued to be essential shopping, exercise and medical need.
