Walk of Art organisers are urging Hull’s HU5 creative community to get involved in the Avenues-based art exhibition. Bigger and better than ever, the event invites creatives to showcase their work in the homes, gardens and garages of Avenues’ residents.
Now in its third year, the art initiative remains a unique and interesting event which encapsulates the creative spirit bound within HU5. Residents open up their properties, inviting visitors to view their collections in a fun and unique way. Exhibitors will have the chance to sell their works and with an increasing footfall year on year, it’s a great opportunity for artists to make their mark.
Sculptors, photographers, painters, writers – all forms of art are celebrated at the Walk of Art. Unique to the city, artists can display at their own venues or at a venue donated by one of several generous Avenues residents, who will allow their private properties to be a temporary art studio for the day.
Jacky Ward Lomax, the mastermind behind the event, is urging local creatives to get involved, she said:
“We’ve had two incredibly successful years, with hundreds of visitors and lots of exhibitors and have been overwhelmed with the response, but this year we want it to be bigger and better than ever. With that in mind, we’re on the look-out for talented creatives based in HU5 who’d like to become part of our project and share their work with the public.
“Exhibiting as a part of Walk of Art will allow work to been seen by hundreds, if not thousands of new people, and any sales and commissions generated are the artists’ to keep.”
Paul Sowden, Managing Director of event sponsor Sowden + Sowden, commented:
“We’re thrilled to be supporting the Walk of Art in its third year, it’s a fantastic way to showcase Hull’s creative talent and I’d urge any artists or HU5 residents to get involved in the event. Creativity is the lifeblood of our community so it’s important that we support local artists and initiatives like this.”
